It is important to be aware that some transactions imported into your ZenLedger account may be missing a USD value. This article will go over how to find these transactions in your account, so that you can review and edit them as needed.
Sometimes you may have random airdropped coins or worthless coins/NFTs imported into your account due to wallet addresses being public, which are fine to leave without a USD value (or you can mark them as Ignore). However, in other situations, you may have a valid transaction that is missing a price that is actually needed for cost basis purposes for future transactions. In this case, it is important that the price gets added manually by editing the transaction, as shown in the instructions below
Missing prices typically occur with coins that are extremely uncommon and thus do not have a clear price history. For example, coins without historical pricing available on websites like Coingecko or Coinmarketcap are unlikely to have prices automatically assigned to them through ZenLedger's pricing algorithm.
There are some cases which typically do result in a missing price due to their nature. Examples of these would be liquidity pool tokens, real assets that were acquired before pricing became standardized, and NFTs. Due to the nature of these tokens or the date of the transaction in your account, the software may oftentimes not be able to pick up price data, so it would need to be entered manually.
Before editing Missing Price transactions in your account, it is a good idea to make sure that you've recalculated the fair market missing prices in your account to be sure they are updated. You can do this by going to Settings -> Other -> Resync Prices.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Edit Missing Price Transactions:
Step 1: Navigate to the Transactions tab.
Step 2: Make sure you are using the New UI. Using the filters at the top of the page, click the drop-down arrow of the box that says Warnings and then select Missing Price. This will pull up all of your transactions that have a 0 USD value. You can further filter by date, coin, or exchange if you'd like.
Step 3: From here you can either leave transactions as they are if they are worthless to you (such as airdropped coins or NFTs that do not have a value), or you can edit the transaction to add a USD value. To edit, click the three dots to the right of the transactions and then select Edit.
Step 4: In the Edit Transaction screen that appears, you will see that the Total (USD) box is blank. This is where you can enter the USD value for this transaction at the time it took place. Then you can click Save.
Step 5: Once you have finished adding pricing for the transactions in which it is necessary, it is important to run your tax calculation, so that the tax calculation will update based on the changes you made.
